Sanding the slab then takes around 1 hour, as long as it’s 54″ or less wide. Flattening a slab will take 1-2.5 hours depending on the slab size. We then charge a flat fee of $80 per hour for flattening and wide belt sanding. Ash, sycamore, hickory, red oak, and pin oak tend to be cheaper.įor live edge slabs, you’ll typically pay per board foot based on the rough cut slab size. More expensive species include walnut, maple, cherry, and white oak. When buying live edge slabs, this is something to take into consideration. Slab Species – Some slabs cost more than others. This is one of our favorite finishes as it will give you a more natural look, at a cost-effective price. However, after the upfront investment in the equipment, finishing is relatively cheap and will give your table a beautiful glow and really bring out the beauty in the natural grain. The equipment to do this finish costs thousands of dollars, so many companies won’t offer it as a finish. The cheapest finish we offer is a hardwax LED oil. It has a similar glow over the wood and will last you for years to come. Polyurethane is a cheaper alternative to epoxy if you’re just looking for a nice finish to the wood slab. Gaps may be slightly visible in between the timbers joins.Request Quote Factors That Influence The Price of Your Live Edge Tableįinish – As mentioned above, epoxy finishes and river tables are the most expensive due to the cost of epoxy and labor to pour it. They are biscuit jointed in 2 or 3 places and added support bars which are glued and screwed on the underside. There will also be small grooves where the timbers join, like in your typical farmhouse table. We take great care to join the pieces together, sand and smooth any anomalies from the timber, but it does contain knots, grains and of course, lots of character. We only use Reclaimed Timber and therefore it may have visible bumps and dents which we believe as a Company it’s all part of the character and the story of the piece. This can be done with a Screwdriver or a drill. Legs come separate and ready to attach with the screws provided into the pre drilled holes. The stain swatch is only a rough guide of colours, this will vary depending on light in the room and the reclaimed timber used at the time. There are various stains available in the final photo.
